SAN JOSE De BUENAVISTA, Antique -- The 10 barangays in Antique that are recipients of the potable water projects for this year are being urged to rush the submission of their documents so the projects could start in the first quarter of 2018.
Engineer Donee Ann S. Ruinata of the provincial office of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said in an interview Thursday that 10 barangays in the towns of Caluya, Laua-an and San Remigio are recipients of the department's "Sagana at Ligtas Na Tubig sa Lahat" or "Salintubig".
She said that "Salintubig" is being implemented in the waterless barangays in a bid to provide local residents clean and accessible water.
In Caluya, Barangay Sibulo has been granted a PHP2-million budget. Barangays Atabay, Banbanan, and Bawang in San Remigio received PHP3 million each. Barangays Carawisan I and II and Insubuan in the same town have received PHP2 million each.
Laua-an town’s water projects for its three barangays have received a total of PHP9 million and another barangay which Ruinata did not name has been granted PHP2 million.
Ruinata said the required documents consist of a copy of the resolution of the municipal council and a memorandum of agreement signed between the town’s chief executive and the DILG.
“The local government unit should also provide the lot for the water system or if not, the Deed of Donation from a private lot owner,” she said.
She added that in 2016, five barangays received the Salintubig projects in the towns of Bugason, Caluya, San Remigio and Laua-an. (PNA)
