The father of slain cop, PO1 Ashley Villarico, said if there's anything that can ease his sufferings, this would be the speedy and impartial trial of the suspected assailant of his 34-year-old son.
Leonardo Villarico, father of the victim, is pinning his hopes on the Regional Trial Court judge to whom the case was raffled Wednesday.
"Unta aksiyonan dayon ni Judge Gil Bollozos ang kaso sa akong anak aron mahatagan kini og hustisya. Justice delayed is justice denied [I hope Judge Gil Bollozos will promptly act on my son's case so he can be given justice.]," elder Villarico told the Sun.Star by phone Friday.
Leonardo said he didn't mind past allegations of bias against Bollozos, who was asked by prosecutors last month to inhibit from another controversial murder case for alleged "utter partiality and bias for the accused."
The judge denied the petition early this month.
"Nirespeto gihapon ko sa iyang pagka-judge. Ang gusto lang nako mahitabo nga dili unta niya dugayon ug mag-isyu na og warrant against sa suspect labina nga anaa sa kakuyaw ang among kinabuhi [I still respect him as a judge. What I want now is for the case to move on and that a warrant of arrest be issued against the suspect, especially that our lives are being threatened.]," Leonardo said.
