About 1,000 residents of eastern Pangasinan benefited from the medical and dental mission conducted by the Philippine Medical and Dental Society of Florida, USA from January 31 to February 4.
Led by the husband-and-wife team of Dr. Dalmacio Miranda Jr. and Dr. Ma. Luisa Braga-Miranda, the mission is composed of some 100 Fil-Am doctors and nurses.
The Miranda couple are family internists in the U.S.
It was also a homecoming for Dr. Miranda Jr., son of the late Tayug Vice Mayor Dalmacio Miranda Sr. and a graduate of the Luna Colleges in Tayug in 1956.
Tayug Mayor Carlos Trese Mapili welcomed the medical and dental mission during a short program at the town auditorium on January 31, thanking them for coming to the town and sharing their talents and expertise for the benefit of the people of eastern Pangasinan
In their five-day medical and dental mission, they operated and treated patients at the Eastern Pangasinan District Hospital (EPDH), the Tayug Family Hospital and the Tayug National High School.
Dr. Jovencio Tumbaga, EPDH director, hailed the medical and dental mission for working closely with EPDH doctors and nurses during the mission.
The group also sent out smaller teams of doctors and nurses to treat other patients in San Manuel, Asingan, Rosales, Sta. Maria, San Quintin, San Nicolas, Natividad, Umingan and Balungao. (PNA)
