DAVAO City Mayor Sara Duterte vowed Thursday to cut the city's peace and order fund even as she agreed with law enforcement agencies' move to intensify efforts against terrorism.
Duterte said this year's budget for peace and order is pegged at P900 million.
"I will not elaborate how much will be taken out from the allotted budget but we are discussing of trimming down the peace and order budget to utilized it by other departments in the City Government to fund their programs," she said in vernacular after signing the memorandum of agreement (MOA) to continue the implementation of the Davao City Oplan Laban sa Terorismo (DColt) this year.
She added: "Basically we already improved our equipment. We have the vehicles, motorcycles, all these things are met. We have the K9, OED, so basically maganda na ang mechanism natin," she added. - Jade Zaldivar, Sun Star
