(PNA)--At least P7-million worth of properties were destroyed by a more than one hour fire that hit a residential area in the island province of Sulu Sunday night.
Director Felizardo Serapio, chief of the Directorate for Integrated Police Operations (Dipo)-West, said the incident took place around 6:30 p.m. Sunday in Barangay Kajatian, Indanan, Sulu.
Serapio said the fire started at the residence of Hadji Adjili Adus and rapidly spread in the neigborhood.
Serapio said that a total of 33 houses were razed to the ground to include that of Adus.
Serapio said the fire was cause by a short circuit due to faulty electrical wiring.
He said the firefighters from Jolo, the capital town of Sulu, have managed to contain the fire for one-and-a-half hour.
No one was reported killed or injured during the fire incident, he said. (PNA)
