PCOO to establish PCO Net in Davao provinces
« on: June 06, 2020, 09:59:02 PM »
TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte -- The Presidential Communications Operation Office (PCOO) will establish the Provincial Communications Officers Network (PCO Net), a network of government communicators to ensure the efficient flow of information to the communities.

PCO Net, which is already established in several provinces like Surigao, Agusan, General Santos, Sarangani, Pangasinan, Cordillera, Siquijor, and Dumaguete, will be launched in other areas in Mindanao.

Virginia Agtay, Director of the News and Information Bureau (NIB), said PCO Net will be established in Compostela Valley sometime next year.

She said PCOO has been going to the provinces to launch the network.

The PCO Net is one of the PCOO’s initiatives to ensure that plans of the Duterte administration are communicated to every Filipino. This is also with the help of the members of media.

“We all play a vital role in cascading information to the grassroots,” she said, adding, “We are instruments in making or breaking the future.”

Agtay highlighted the PCOO’s aim to upgrade all provincial stations next year and build a Mindanao communications hub.

PCOO, she said will ground break the Mindanao hub which will house the state-owned Radyo Pilipinas, PTV, Philippine Information Agency (PIA), and the Philippine News Agency (PNA), a bureau under NIB.

She announced that Davao City is being positioned to be the broadcasting hub of Mindanao with a state of the art broadcasting facility.

During the Press–ComVal Information Officers Assembly dubbed “strength in Convergence” on Friday night held in Big 8, Tagum City, Agtay, who represented Presidential Secretary Martin Andanar, also highlighted the rebirth of PNA in October.

PNA also launched the first webcast -- English daily newscast which provides a public rundown of stories.

All initiatives of the PCOO, Agtay said is in line with the government’s transparency policy.

“Transparency will always become the cornerstone of this government for the people,” she stressed.

She also underscored the need to let the public know what is going on and deepen public understanding of the thrust current administration.

Government communicators are tasked to counter fake news, which is prevalent especially with the advent of the social media. Fake news which has plagued the country and placed the Filipinos at a disadvantage because others do not play fair.

“We cannot allow this thing to prevail that is why it is imperative for us to work harder to ensure the solidity of the communication network as we bring further our fight for accurate, truthful, and empowering news and information to the public,” she added.

She pointed to the spread of messages on Facebook, Twitter and other social media platforms that discredit the good objectives of the President (Rodrigo Duterte) and other public officials in the national, provincial and local governments.

“We cannot allow this to happen because as journalists it is our duty to tell the true story,” she told participants of the Assembly.

Also part of the revitalization is the national convention of public information officers, provincial government communicators, and community influencers.

Agtay said it will be hosted by PCOO in February. The program broadens grassroots level to the provinces to help counter negative and fake information.

She urged communicators and journalists as the catalyst of genuine change because the Filipino people deserve nothing less.

Agtay urged them to remain committed to upholding the truth at all times and help banner the change of what the President has initiated. (PNA) JANUARY 2018

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
