Pantawid Program in Northern Mindanao
« on: July 24, 2009, 04:21:56 PM »
At least 35,834 beneficiaries received President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s “Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program" (4Ps) in Northern Mindanao, said social welfare information officer Recthie B. Tolinero on Friday.

Under the Set 1 of 4P’s program, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD-Northern Mindanao) has already released P95,745,642 for the 443 barangays in Misamis Occidental, Lanao del Norte and Cagayan de Oro City municipalities, Tolinero said.

The DSWD is set to implement the Set 2 in areas of Talacag, Magsaysay and Balo-I, after the recent seminar on the supply side assessment (SSA) of 4P’s to the local government units (LGUs) in the expansion program, with the National House Targeting System (NHTS) in said areas, said the social information officer.

The NHTS composed of the regional staff of Northern Mindanao DSWD led by Regional Director Atty. Araceli F. Solamillo and Jerwin Navarro, 4Ps program coordinator of DSWD with other staff.

During the activity, Atty. Solamillo shared that 4Ps is the department’s response to the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) in a way that it provides cash subsidy to the poorest households in the country to improve the health, nutrition and education.

“The program fully supports the realization of DSWD’s vision, mission and mandate and is also aligned with the goal of poverty reduction and empowering the poor,” Director Solamillo said.

According to Solamillo, Talakag, Magsaysay and Balo-i municipalities were selected as the new 4Ps areas through the Small Area Estimates and Family Income Expenditure Survey just like the first set of 4Ps areas in Northern Mindanao.

As of June 2009, there are already 5,505 potential beneficiaries in Talakag, 3,292 in Magsaysay and 5,444 in Balo-I, she said.

The target beneficiaries were already oriented on the program’s conditionalities, gains and their roles in its implementation.

Social welfare officers in targeted areas also gave the mechanics in conducting community assembly, which are essential in the registration and validation of the potential beneficiaries in the areas. (PNA)

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
