The various irrigation systems under the coverage area of the National Irrigation Administration-Upper Pampanga River Integrated Irrigation Systems (NIA-UPRIIS) are in tip-top order and working with clock-work precision in providing irrigation waters this dry cropping season.
NIA-UPRIIS Operations Manager Reynaldo D. Puno, in a recent briefing, told Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala that the current 103,000-plus hectares programmed for cropping this current planting season is assured of adequate water supply.
In fact, many areas have already stopped withdrawing their water quota in preparation for the harvest time in early March, Puno said.
Despite the present scarcity of rains, Puno assured the DA secretary that there is no danger of Nueva Ecija’s mammoth Pantabangan running out of water even for the entire year. = pna
