PHP500,000 worth of ‘shabu’ seized from ex-councilor in Cagayan de OroCAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Aug. 19 (PNA) -- Government agents seized shabu worth PHP500,000 from a former town councilor and her niece during a buy-bust operation at Cagayan de Oro City’s premier bus terminal.
Insp. Melgar Devaras of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Northern Mindanao said Friday the illegal substance was confiscated from Raihana Alen, who was a town councilor in Pantar, Lanao del Norte back in 2003, and her niece, a minor.
“Actually, the transaction started in Butuan City, 180 km. from here where the operatives agreed to pay (for) some 200 kg. of shabu worth PHP1 million,†Devaras said.
He said the transaction was completed at the bus terminal in Agora here Thursday evening, but Alen turned over only 100 grams of shabu, with a street value of PHP500,000.
Devaras noted that Thursday night's transaction was the third, with Alen previously selling also 100 grams of shabu.
He said charges were brought against Alen and her nephew for violating the Comprehensive Anti-Illegal Drug Law. They were at the custody of the CIDG regional command in Patag, Cagayan De Oro City. (PNA)
