Ormoc City Mayor Richard I. Gomez attended the Ormoc Development Team (ODT) meeting at the Multi-purpose Hall this afternoon, April 5, 2021.
The topic under discussion was the ways and means for widening the road right of way at the diversion road. Also discussed were sidewalk vendors' business permits, issuing vendor tickets, vendors' proper waste disposal, food sanitation, cleanliness of the area, and traffic issues.
Mayor Gomez also suggested to forming an ad hoc committee to monitor the area and impose penalties.
Furthermore, the ODT discussed the merging of district barangays. Accordingly, the IATF has yet to approve the request for a plebiscite.
In addition, despite the fact that the SP resolution has been signed, some barangays are still opposed to the merging of barangays.
Thus, MRG suggested to convening the PBs once the plebiscite is approved by the IATF.
Mayor Gomez also mentioned that cockfighting is still prohibited in this city even if other LGUs have allowed said games.
Concerns about animal waste in public places were also addressed. SP Member Lalaine Marcos proposed issuing/making an ordinance, but in the meantime, to apply the anti-littering ordinance that the city already has.
SPM Marcos also suggested that the pet owners shall be responsible in bringing their own plastic (recycled), considering that the city is already regulating single-use plastic.
The zoning ordinance was also mentioned. The ODT will continue to review the draft ordinance, which will be submitted within this month.
