Majority of the voters in North Cotabato will go for administration presidential candidate Gilbert "Gibo" Teodoro Jr. because of the belief that he will bring peace and development in the province.
North Cotabato Governor Jesus Sacdalan made this statement during a Lakas-Kampi-CMD party meeting here over the weekend.
"We have a very clear vision for North Cotabato and that is the priority of Gibo," Sacdalan said, adding that 11 of the 17 town mayors of the province belong to the administration party.
Sacdalan, who is running for the first congressional district in the coming May elections, is convinced that Teodoro will be the next occupant of Malacanang.
Recalling the armed hostilities in North Cotabato in 2008, Sacdalan said it was Teodoro, then Defense secretary, who came to rescue the province from total occupation by renegade Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) members.
Teodoro, who was the guest of honor at the 12th foundation anniversary of Kidapawan City, vowed to ensure security of the province once elected as successor of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
Sacdalan said a recent survey indicated that the more than 600,000 voters of North Cotabato would pick a president that has peace and development vision which could be translated to economic development and prosperity.
The incumbent governor, who at first thought of seeking reelection, decided to seek the congressional seat to pave the way for Rep. Lala Talinio-Mendoza to be the next North Cotabato provincial chief executive. - PNA
