No Delta Variant in Davao Oriental
« on: July 24, 2021, 04:34:13 pm »

There are no cases of the Delta COVID-19 variant in the Province of Davao Oriental, assured Provincial Health Officer and Provincial Task Force on COVID-19 Action Officer Dr. Reden Bersaldo during a press briefing held at the Provincial Capitol earlier today, July 22.

However, he confirmed that there are three cases of two other variants of concern recorded here --two cases of Alpha or UK variant and one case of Beta or South African variant.

Dr. Bersaldo said that these patients have tested positive for COVID-19 in June. Their swab specimens were sent to a bigger lab for further testing and the official report from the Department of Health confirming the results of the new variants just came in yesterday.

“As of now, all three patients are now fully recovered. They have all been isolated, treated, and contact traced. Their contacts have also been tested, as well,” said Dr. Bersaldo.

While all the cases with variants of concern in the province have already recovered, Dr. Bersaldo reminds the public not to be complacent. “The main difference of the new variants versus the original is the rate of transmissibility,” he said, adding that avoiding the new variants are just the same as the original variants.

Aside from observing the minimum health standards, Dr. Bersaldo underscored the importance of getting vaccinated to prevent the further spread of the COVID-19. He added that “Vaccines, regardless of brand, can provide protection against severe forms of COVID. It may also help patients avoid mechanical ventilation or death as a result of severe covid infection.”

As of now, the provincial government is fast-tracking its vaccination efforts. To date, around 41,274 individuals consisting of 9.7 percent of the entire Davao Oriental population have been vaccinated.

There are still 384,000 individuals who are yet to be vaccinated.
Governor Nelson Dayanghirang has allotted P60 million for the procurement of the vaccines to augment the vaccines in the Local Government Units. Dr. Bersaldo added that the province and the LGUs will have a 50-50 percent sharing for the purchase of the vaccines.

Dr. Bersaldo added that the province is serious in its efforts to provide vaccines for everyone. In his latest update, there will be around 21,000 J&J's Janssen Covid-19 vaccines which are set to arrive tomorrow in the province. KLD-PIO

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
