The Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office (NOPPO) is set to file Monday charges of grave misconduct against a policeman assigned in Bayawan City, Negros Oriental, who was arrested in a drug buy-bust operation that also yielded a cache of firearms, ammunition, and explosives.
Provincial police director Sr. Supt. Rey Lyndon Lawas said the administrative case against PO2 Victorio Rizaldo will be filed with the summary officer of the Philippine National Police Regional Office 7 (PRO-7) in Cebu City.
Following his arrest last week in a drug buy-bust operation in Bayawan City, Rizaldo was immediately disarmed and subjected to random drug testing.
If Rizaldo is found guilty of illegal drug use and the criminal charges filed against him, he will be facing stiff administrative sanctions, such as dismissal from the PNP service, said Lawas.
The Task Force Kasaligan, a composite team of operatives from the PNP, the National Bureau of Investigation and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, had filed separate charges against Rizaldo for illegal selling and illegal possession of prohibited drugs, illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, and illegal possession of explosives. =pna
