BACOLOD CITY -- The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) of Negros Occidental on Wednesday turned over to Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. the approved PHP3.546-billion annual budget of the province for 2018.

The governor received the appropriation ordinance after the presentation of Executive-Legislative Agenda during the Provincial Board’s regular session.

The approved budget for 2018 is 12 percent higher compared to this year’s budget of PHP3.154 billion.

The SP passed the budget on December 6, meeting the target to approve next year’s budget on the first week of December.

Second District Board Member Salvador Escalante Jr., chairman of committee on appropriations, budget, finance, ways and means, said that since there were no more queries from the body, he moved for the third and final reading of the appropriation ordinance for the 2018 annual budget.

The 2018 appropriation includes PHP3.182 billion for the General Fund, PHP1.456 billion for the Hospital Operations Department (HOD), and PHP66.286 million for Economic Enterprise Development Department (EEDD).

Under the General Fund are Personal Services (PS) of PHP779 million and Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses (MOOE) of P281 million as well as special appropriations at PHP963 million, and PHP1.1 billion inter-fund transfer to HOD and EEDD.

The HOD budget includes PS at PHP1.255 billion, MOOE at PHP196 million, and other appropriations at PHP5 million while the EEDD has PHP38 million for PS, PHP27 million for MOOE, and PHP1.2 million for other appropriations.

The funds will be sourced from the provincial government’s projected Internal Revenue Allotment share of PHP3 billion, and local income of PHP152 million from the General Fund.

About PHP308 million will come from the HOD and PHP55 million from the EEDD. (PNA)  DECEMBER 2017
