National Family Week Parade

Not even the looming morning drizzle could thwart the people of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) from joining the National Family Week parade held within the compound of the regional government over the weekend.

Amid heavy to moderate downpour brought about by typhoon Lawin, the activity continued with acting ARMM Regional Governor Mujiv Hataman leading the ARMM officials and employees.

With the theme “Ensuring Work-Family Balance,” this year’s 25th commemoration was spearheaded by Hataman.

Pack of regional officials and employees braved the rain before proceeding to the Shariff Kabunsuan Cultural Complex Hall where the short yet heartwarming program sponsored by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) was held.

Amihilda Sangcopan, governor’s chief-of-staff and Social Welfare Assistant Secretary Pombaen Kadir, both underscored family redeeming value to push forward reforms in Muslim region in parallel to the thrust of the national government for nation building.

Kadir, elated with the presence of Hataman heading the parade, noted that with her 16 years in the regional government, it was the first time a top executive of the region joined the procession.

Hataman, meanwhile, reiterated that government service does not have to come athwart personal family concerns, when one treats public service as an extended household.

“Ang buong sambayanan ang pamilya ko, dapat ganun din ang prinsipyo ng lahat. Ang pagseserbisyo ay kailangan at di lang dahil sa pangangailangan, ito ang bumubuhay sa ating lahat (My family is all of you and our people in ARMM, it should be out attitude. Services are necessary not only when our people need it but anytime, all the time),” Hataman said.

Hataman said the recently approved 2013 proposed budget for the region in both Houses of Congress was a good indication that his administration is on the right track.

The caretaker-governor cited the positive gestures of lawmakers during budget deliberations.

“Unti-unti nang nabuo ang tiwala ng buong bayan at ng pamahalaan, na sa kasaysayan ng ARMM ay di pa tuwirang nangyayari (Slowly, we have regained confidence of our people, a first in ARMM history),” he added.

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
