Police operatives arrested a notorious car thief, a namesake of a multi-awarded actor, in Barangay Batia here, Monday afternoon.
Senior Supt. Allen Bantolo, Bulacan Police Provincial Office (BPPO) director, identified the arrested suspect as Christopher de Leon, 33, married, of Northville Subdivision, Barangay Batia here.
Bantolo said De Leon is a member of the notorious "Kabayan Group", a criminal gang engaged in robbery hold-up, carnapping and gun-for-hire activities operating in some Bulacan areas.
He said joint operatives of the Provincial Intelligence and Detective Management Bureau (PIDMB), headed by Supt. Dave Poklay, and the Bocaue Police Police Station, under Supt. Ronald “DJ†de Jesus, swooped down on the gang's suspected hideout in Barangay Batia after receiving information that the suspect was sighted in the area.
Police said De Leon went into hiding following the killing of some of his cohorts during an encounter with lawmen last year. - PNA
