Most Child Friendly City in the Philippines
« on: February 17, 2010, 08:36:33 PM »
A pool of evaluators from Manila will arrive here Thursday to conduct random evaluation of five barangays in Dumaguete after it was adjudged as one of the national finalists for the search for the Most Child Friendly City in the country.

The evaluators are representatives from the different government agencies and a non-government organization who will evaluate the child development programs implemented in the city.

Mayor Agustin Perdices said the evaluators will review the implementation of the program based on reading materials available at the day care and Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) centers, health and nutrition of the children and local ordinances that are essential to the children.

He is hopeful that Dumaguete will finally be chosen as Most Child Friendly City after reaping the award in Region 7 for four consecutive years.

Perdices said said child development programs are among the priority concerns of the city government especially during his stint as city mayor.

The mayor strongly believes that the formative years of the children are important for their basic learning, especially with working parents who do not have enough time to teach them. - PNA
