A SCRAP buyer was killed while his son was seriously injured after the mortar bomb they found in the waste accidentally exploded in Taytay, Rizal, Tuesday night.
Taytay police chief Supt. Arthur Masungsong said Alex Carbungco, businessman, of Block 29, USA St., Bagong Pag-asa, Bgy. Sta. Ana, died on the spot from multiple shrapnel wounds in the head and body, while his son Kim Angelo, 13, is under observation at the Rizal Medical Center in Pasig City.
Initial investigation shows that the incident happened at about 7:30 p.m. while the victim was segregating scrap in his junkshop when he accidentally hit the mortar grenade, causing it to explode.
