Seventeen-year-old student Dyling Cadano does not have to walk for eight hours just to get home, while 70-year-old Timuay Jordiny Etol does not have to labor for three hours to get his vegetables and root crops to the town proper here anymore.
For this, the two thanked President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo when she launched today the construction of the seven-kilometer Poblacion-Maligubaan farm-to-market road in Barangay Poblacion here.
The President led the capsule laying rites of the P10-million Poblacion- Maligubaan farm-to-market road funded by the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) that would benefit some 6,000 farmers in six barangays here and other communities in neighboring Zamboanga del Norte.
Welcoming the President are more than 500 residents and local officials led by Misamis Occidental Gov. Leo Ocampos, 1st District Rep. Marina Clarete, Concepcion Mayor Benjamin Pilota Jr., Vice Mayor Juanidy Vina, Sanggunian members, regional officials of government line agencies, and mayors of other towns in the province.
Accompanying the President is Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Secretary Nasser Pangandaman.
The President turned over to Mayor Pilota a check for P1.575 million representing the 15 percent mobilization fund for the early completion of the road project this year. - PNA
