Eleven regional winners received their certificates and cash prizes and will represent the Calabarzon region in the National Invention Contests and Exhibits (NICE) next year.

The winners emerged following meticulous criteria-based selection, deliberation, interviews, presentations and demonstrations of the contenders’ inventions by the panel of jurors composed of Dr. Freddie Bulauan, Engr. Rogelio Reyes and Dr. Jose Tomas Cabagay.

RICE is a biennial celebration of the DOST as the country’s premier S&T institution through its Technology Application and Promotion Institute (TAPI) and the DOST Regional Offices.

It provides an outlet for local inventors to feature their works and to recognize the indispensability of Filipino inventors in the Philippine society and in the landscape of national economic development.

The competition also aims to encourage the country’s local inventors and the corresponding government assistance provided for these S&T special sectors. (PNA)
