DOTr PUSHES FOR ACTIVE TRANSPORT IN DAVAO CITY
With the continuous guidance from Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Art Tugade to promote and develop active transportation as one of the country’s primary modes of transport, the DOTr Road Sector – Active Transport Team, together with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Region 11, is eagerly pushing for the completion of the Metropolitan Bike Lane Network in Davao City.
The DOTr Road Sector-Active Transport Team, together with the DPWH – Region 11, inspected the ongoing construction of the 54.51-kilometer Metro Davao Bike Lane Network Project last week.
Funded by the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act of 2020 (RA 11494), the project aims to link Davao’s key activity areas by increasing their accessibility and providing our most vulnerable road users with safe infrastructures.
As of 28 May 2021, the project’s overall progress in Metro Davao is at 81% or a total of 46.15 km of bike lanes. It is expected to be completed by the second week of June 2021.
