Meat prices remain stable in Laoag
« on: May 30, 2020, 03:14:34 PM »
LAOAG CITY -- Prices of meat products sold in this city’s supermarkets remained constant amidst the holiday rush, Laoag City’s market master Sheila Marie Rapatan-De Leon said on Monday.

She said that based on the latest monitoring, prices of meat products are strictly regulated and are so far competitive compared to other provinces.

Over the years, the swine industry in Ilocos Norte is self-sufficient, considering the high demand for "bagnet" and "longganisa".

Bagnet (deep fried, crispy pork) and longganisa (Filipino-style sausage) are among the best selling processed meat products in the province. Tourists buy these items to bring to their families and friends back home.

De Leon also said that while prices of meat products are stable, those of seafood products continue to rise.  (PNA)
