Members of the Bacolod City Police Force (BCPO) planted around 500 pieces of mangroves, locally known as "bakawan" along the shoreline of Purok Villa Servando in Barangay Singcang Airport this city recently.
The activity was in line with the 14th Police Community Relations Month celebration with the theme “Pagbinuligay Sang Kapulisan kag Pumuloyo Padulong sa Kalinungan kag Katawhayanâ€.
The group was led by Police Inspector Jovy Cabcaban, officer-in-charge of BCPO-Police Community Relations (PCR) Branch with the different PCR officers of the 10 police stations together with Police Officer’s 1 who are undergoing their Field Training Program (FTP).
Police Inspector Cabcaban explained to residents the value of mangroves in the eco-system and their part in taking good care of it.
Meanwhile, the Bantay Bayan Foundation Incorporated (BBFI), Community Movement and Reaction against Crime and Illegal Drugs Incorporated (COMRAID) and the Bacolod Crime Stoppers will undertake similar mangrove planting on July 26. (PNA)
