Man misses OFW wife, rapes 10-year-old daughter

MANILA, Philippines - The jobless husband of a domestic helper working in Hong Kong was arrested yesterday following a complaint filed by his 10-year-old daughter for allegedly raping her last week in their house in Valenzuela City.

Police said the suspect, 36, a resident of Barangay Ugong, was charged with rape before the court yesterday.

The victim’s grandmother accompanied the girl in filing the complaint. She said she learned of the rape, which happened last April 30, from the victim herself when she noticed the girl was behaving strangely.

The suspect, when asked why he raped his own daughter, told police he missed his wife and was drunk when he committed the crime.

The suspect has been detained while the victim has been turned over to the care of her grandmother.
