LAPU-LAPU CITY -- In observance of the feast of patron Virgin of Rule (Birhen dela Regla), main thouroughfares in Lapu-Lapu City will be closed on November 20-21.

This was announced Thursday by the Lapu-Lapu City Traffic Management System (CTMS), saying all major roads, especially within the vicinity of the Virgen dela Regla Parish, will be closed from 4:30 a.m. to midnight on those days.

However, private vehicles can enter areas near the church, where two parking lots have been available for parishioners for free.

Taxicabs will also be allowed access to streets near the parish only to drop their passengers but not to wait on fares.

“All passenger jeepneys and tricycles will only be allowed up to their respective terminals. They cannot enter the Poblacion,” CTMS officer-in-charge Mario Napuli said.

Over 80 personnel from the CTMS and the Lapu-Lapu City Allied Force will be deployed to man the traffic and guide motorists during the two-day festivities.

Motorists and commuters are advised to just follow traffic rules and signages which will be put up along all the roads of the city.

People heading to Cordova town on those days are also advised to use the circumferential roads to avoid traffic congestion. (With reports from Michelle Bugtai/PNA)
