MAASIN CITY (1 December 2005) -- A new Police Station building will soon be added to the growing structures changing the landscape of this city.
No less than the new Police Regional Director, Chief Supt. Eliseo De La Paz, revealed in an ambush interview during a surprise visit here recently that construction of the new Police office shall begin anytime this month, December.
The first amount intended for the project had, in fact, been already released, De La Paz added.
Newly-installed City Chief of Police, Supt. Pepito Generan filled in some details where his Regional Boss failed to mention.
In a radio program "Aksyon, Solusyon, Inisyatibo" over DYDM on Thursday, December 1, Generan said the new building will be a two-story structure located in a 240 square meter lot beside the Fire Department and the new Integrated Terminal building at the reclamation area.
The amount of P1 million had been readied to start the construction work for the project, Generan said, adding that the entire appropriation could be anything between P 5 Million to P 7 Million.
In June this year Chief PNP Director-General Arturo Lomibao toured the province and announced that three Police Stations -- Maasin, Padre Burgos, and Libagon -- stand to get allocations for a separate building.
Generan hinted at similar developments with Padre Burgos and Libagon Police Stations.
Maasin Police Station has been housed in the ground floor of the old municipal building ever since the historic past and desperately needed a new face lift now that the town has been changed into a city. (PIA-Southern Leyte)"
