COVID SPIKE PUTS MAASIN IN GCQ
Rest of Southern Leyte in MGCQ

SOUTHERN LEYTE - Due to the rising reports of new Covid19 cases in Maasin City the Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force (PIATF) held a meeting yesterday that decided that it was to the best interest of the public to place the provincial capital under stricter quarantine.
Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) head Danilo Atienza and Maasin City mayor Nacional Mercado has informed the press that Maasin City will be under GCQ quarantine classification while the rest of the Municipalities in Southern Leyte will remain under MGCQ effective May 1 until May 30.
The specific details of the quarantine measure will be itemized in an executive order to be issued today.
In the Department of Health (DOH) report, last April 21, 2021 there were 11 persons that tested positive in the city, then this jumped to 31 cases in April 24. By April 28, DOH reported 20 more COVID-19 cases in Maasin City.
The local government units are appealing to the public to continue observing preventive health measures to arrest the spread of the virus.
