A village complete with facilities is set to be built for some 1,000 provincial capitol employees here.
Governor Bellaflor Angara-Castillo, together with Cecilia Alba, secretary general of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) and Acmad Rizaldy Moti, deputy chief executive officer of the Home Development Mutual Fund (HDMF) led the recent groundbreaking ceremony in Barangay Reserva here.
Reserva is an emerging government and educational center housing various structures that include modern hospital, rice processing complex, the campus of the University of the Philippines and the office of the Department of Public Works and Highways. The provincial government owns a seven-hectare lot in the area.
Angara-Castillo said the subdivision-type housing project will give priority to employees who do not own houses or just rent their dwellings.
She said each of the
beneficiaries will rent the house then later own it under a rent-to-own scheme.
“I want this housing project to be one of my biggest legacies to my official capitol family once I step down as governor in 2013,†she said.
Angara-Castillo said her administration conceived the housing project after learning that a number of capitol employees do not even have their own houses.
