BATAC CITY, July 2 (PNA) --Patients with curable diseases yet struggling to seek medical treatment may now have a lifeline to turn to, courtesy of the provincial government of Ilocos Norte in partnership with the Office of Ilocos Norte 2nd District Representative Imelda R. Marcos, who is turning 86th today.
In time for the birthday celebration of Mrs. Marcos, her daughter, Governor Imee Marcos announced Wednesday the re-launching of “Save a Life in Every Barangay†project as part of the government efforts to combat poverty and empower Ilokanos in this northern part of Luzon.
Dubbed as, “Silpo ti Biag†in Ilokano which means a “lifeline†bearing this hotline number 0999-9997707 aims to save lives and improve the health of the most vulnerable Ilokano families by closing the gap between knowledge and action in public health.
Attended by provincial, municipal and village officials including representatives of various government line agencies, non-government organizations and the private sector, an agreement was signed by all concerned stakeholders at the lobby of the Batac Mansion on Wednesday evening.
“The Silpo ti Biag, a lifeline which was launched during the time of my mother better known as the “Save a Life in Every Barrio†campaign to make certain that public health and medical services would reach every corner of the archipelago and that every Barangay could indeed feel that the government is reaching out to help them with a lifeline,†said Gov. Marcos.
As part of the agreement, all people who have chronic illnesses, prioritizing those who are poor and are severely ill in every Barangay shall be given immediate and proper treatment from a pool of highly-trained professionals.
To date, several recipients were already identified as they also underwent pre-screening by physicians at the Provincial Health Office jointly with the Provincial Welfare and Development Office and the Association of the Barangay Council.
For those who are interested to avail of this service, Ilocos Norte residents may just call or text the lifeline number for further details.(PNA)
