Doctors at the Region 1 Medical Center (R1MC) here expressed fear that the number of
leptospirosis cases in Pangasinan might rise as 22 cases were recorded from Sept. 1 to 24 with one death.
Dr. Michael Canto, R1MC spokesman said, however, that the number of cases registered for the first 24 days of September was much lower than the number of cases registered during the rainy month of August with 42 and nine deaths, six of them from Dagupan.
Canto said they are expecting more admissions for dengue in the coming days as it still be raining in Pangasinan up to October.
"And it is not only rains that could cause flood," Canto said pointing out that the almost daily rise of tidal water in many coastal areas of the province, particularly in Dagupan, cause floods. - pna.gov.ph
