Combined units of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Tuesday rescued alive three victims of kidnapping in La Trinidad, Benguet, according to Police Chief Superintendent Orlando Pestano.

The victims rescued were businessman Richard Lu, and his daughter and son.

Three of the suspects are now in custody. They are said to be natives of the Cordillera region.

Brief details of the first kidnapping case here in years indicated that the businessman and children were leaving their house in La Trinidad town when they were taken at gunpoint by the kidnappers.

The residents alerted the police of the incident prompting the PNP to establish checkpoints on all possible escape routes.

The suspected kidnappers were intercepted by the Atok police force in Atok, Benguet at around 9:00 a.m. today and were not able to resist against the lawmen.

Pestano said more details would be available once they complete the investigation. (PNA)
