The New People's Army (NPA) released Corporal Daiem Hadajaie in the hinterlands of Barangay Ngan, Compostela Valley 1:30 p.m. Sunday to Davao City Vice Mayor Rodrigo Duterte.
Duterte immediately flew with Cpl. Hadajaie onboard the vice mayor’s personal helicopter towards the Army’s 10th Infantry Division headquarters in Panacan here and turned over the soldier to Major General Jorge Segovia, commander of the 10th ID where he will undergo medical check up and will be placed under debriefing.
Days before his release, Duterte called for the release of Hadjaie from the hands of his rebel abductors for humanitarian reason.
Cpl. Hadajaie was abducted by NPA rebels on November 16 at Upper Ulip in Monkayo, Compostela Valley while the soldier was on his way to the hospital to seek medical treatment.
It was reported that Cpl. Hadajaie is suffering from liver problem based on his colleagues’ observation of the yellow discoloration of his skin.
Cpl. Hadajaie’s wife is also due to give birth to their baby. (PNA)
