KAWIT, Cavite -- Kawit’s pride, Kawit Singing Ambassadors (KAWSA), for the first time is getting a chance to compete in the semifinals for the Manila Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) Search for the Best Choral Group in the children and open categories on Tuesday (December 5).

KAWSA, comprised of mixed choristers who share a common passion for singing and serving God, would be competing in the nationwide competition.

Jeff Moore Ledesma, KAWSA founder and choirmaster told PNA on Friday that they are thankful for the opportunity and experience their God-given talents are taking them.

Ledesma also expressed the group's appreciation to Kawit Mayor Angelo Emilio Aguinaldo and local tourism head Angelo Jarin Aguinaldo, whose trust and confidence in the group have boosted their morale.

He disclosed that the group is jubilant, excited and nervous as they are making the preparations seriously every weekend and is giving their best shot for the national choral competition “in God’s glory and name.”

As part of their preparation to the criteria, KAWSA is preparing a novelty piece, three “judges’ choice” pieces, one of which will be sung during the elimination; and the contest piece “Ilangtulog pa ba” by Arnel de Pano.

The 2017 MBC National Choral Competition, one of the country’s grandest choir competitions is open to all ensembles from schools, churches, residential communities, offices and special interest groups slated from Dec. 5 to 9 at the Aliw Theater.

Cash prizes and trophies are at stake with PHP100,000 for the grand champion in the children’s category, and PHP150,000 for the open category champion.

For the semi-final round on December 5, KAWSA will compete together with Bitik Children’s Choir, Jr. SCPC Chorale, Himig ni Juan, Boscorale, UE Chorale, FEU Chorale, Letran Singing Ambassadors, Coro Obcento, St. Paul College Pasig High School Glee Club and ICP Charismatic Chorale.  (PNA) DECEMBER 2017
