Body of slain Aklan doctor in Lanao del Norte now back in Batan
KALIBO, Aklan, March 3 (PNA) -- The remains of the Aklanon doctor slain in Lanao del Norte are now back in his native town, Batan.
Carried by a C-130 plane from Pagadian Airport, the body of rural health doctor Dreyfuss Perlas, 31, arrived at Kalibo International Airport at the Aklan capital around 3 p.m., Friday.
The Aklanon doctor was shot dead by unidentified persons while he was riding a motorbike in Kapatagan town in Lanao del Norte around 7 p.m. Wednesday.
From Kalibo, Dreyfuss' body as well as his motorcycle were brought to their home in Poblacion, Batan.
The victim's father Dennis Perlas, a member of the Sangguniang Bayan of Batan, said they will not stop seeking justice for his son.
The town councilor, who went to Lanao del Norte to get the body of his son, said the municipal government of Sapad where his son was working as a health officer expressed their support in searching for justice.
Meanwhile, the Association of Medical Health Officers - Aklan chapter also expressed support to the victim’s family. The group said they will help the family so that justice would be served to Dreyfuss.
Dreyfuss first worked as a volunteer under the Doctors to the Barrios Program of the Department of Health (DOH) before he became the municipal health officer of the town. (PNA)
