Judge Gabriel Ingles Nominated for CA Associate Justice
« on: January 05, 2011, 09:41:44 PM »
A Cebu City regional trial court (RTC) judge has been nominated for associate justice of the Court of Appeals (CA).

Supreme Court clerk of court Enriqueta Esguerra-Vidal informed Judge Gabriel Ingles, presiding judge of RTC Branch 58, his name is among those included in the “short-list of nominees” the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) submitted to President Benigno S. Aquino III for confirmation.

Vidal, who is also the JBC ex-officio secretary, told Ingles in a letter dated Dec. 23, 2010 the council has forwarded his name as among those nominated for the CA post.

At least 13 nominees were submitted to President Benigno Aquino III for confirmation to fill the four vacant posts in the CA.

Ingles, who has been the RTC Branch 58 presiding judge for nine years now, is the lone judge in Central Visayas to be nominated to the post.

Ingles submitted his application for the CA post last Sept. 13, 2010. He was interviewed by the JBC last Nov. 9.

The JBC screens and submits at least three nominees for every vacant position to the President for confirmation of appointment.

Cebu City RTC Executive Judge Meinrado Paredes lauded Ingles for his nomination.

“He (Ingles) deserves it. Personally, I would be very happy because he is one of the best, if not the best judge in Cebu City,” Paredes said.

Apart from his “unquestioned integrity,” Paredes said Ingles got a “strong backer” that will guarantee his appointment to the CA post. Paredes described Ingles as an “honest and straightforward” member of the judiciary.

Although Ingles would be a “big loss” to the Cebu City RTC if he gets appointed, Paredes said the latter will be a “big gain” to the CA. - pna

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
