Wanted for Online Libel to Spend New Year in Jail After Arrest in Masbate
On January 1, 2025, in Barangay Jaboyoan, Aroroy, Masbate, personnel from the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit 5, Masbate Provincial Cyber Response Team, and Masbate Municipal Police Station arrested alias "Charmie" by virtue of a warrant of arrest.
Charmie is facing charges for the crime of Online Libel, pursuant to the outstanding warrant.
Brigadier General Bernard R. Yang, Officer-in-Charge of the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group, commended the dedicated efforts of the personnel involved in the operation, stating, "This successful arrest highlights our unwavering commitment to upholding the law and ensuring accountability, as we start the new year with a resolute drive to bring justice to those who misuse cyberspace."
