A woman died when she was hit by a motorcycle while she was trying to cross the Elliptical Road on her way to the Quezon Memorial Circle in Diliman, Quezon City on Sunday, police reported.
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) traffic enforcement unit (TEU) identified the fatality as Elizabeth Valera, a resident of E. Rodriguez Sr. Avenue, Cubao, Quezon City.
Initial investigation showed Valera had just alighted from a passenger jeepney and was trying to cross Elliptical Road from the corner of Commonwealth Avenue when she was bumped by a speeding motorcycle driven by Arturo Castillo, 43.
Valera's co-passengers said they overheard her saying "the pedestrian underpass and overpass is very far to walk to," so she attempted to cross Elliptical Road, but she was hit by the blue-colored motorcycle.
The motorcycle driver was arrested and detained at the QCPD-TEU office on Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue. (PNA)
