Cloudy skies, rainshowers and thunderstorms are expected in Cebu as typhoon Lawin moves northwest toward Samar, a weather bureau official in Mactan said.
Boy Artiaga, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) weather observer, said the typhoon is moving northwest to Samar at seven kilometers per hour (kph).
He said typhoon signal number 1 was raised over Samar provinces Sunday afternoon.
The wind in Metro Cebu was moderate while coastal waters were also moderate and light vessels from Cebu are allowed to travel.
There will be moderate to strong winds coming from the north to northwest towards the Bicol Region and Eastern Visayas and coming from the west to southwest over the rest of Visayas and Mindanao.
The coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. There will be light to moderate winds coming from the northeast to northwest over the rest of the Luzon.
The seas will be slight to moderate.
