News Release - LGU-Ormoc, under the leadership of Mayor Richard I. Gomez, expressed gratitude to Agriculture Secretary William D. Dar thru Angel C. Enriquez (Regional Executive Director) of the Department of Agriculture-Regional Office (DA-RFO) 8 for the quick response on the City's African Swine Fever (ASF) concern and for providing Ingezim ASF CROM Ag (ASF testing kit) during a meeting with the RD yesterday, June 24, 2021, at the City Mayor's Office.
The ASF testing kits were handed over in the presence of SP Member Lalaine A. Marcos who is Chairperson of the Committee on Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy Conservation, and Elvira C. Torres, Regional Technical Director for Research and Regulations and DA-RFO8 Regional Task Force Focal Person.
The Ingezim ASF CROM Ag is an immunochromatographic assay for the detection of ASFV in blood samples. The test is based on the use of two different coloured latex microspheres: black microspheres that are coated with a specific MAb to ASFV, and blue microspheres, which are used as test control.
On the membrane, two lines are printed: the test line (T) has a specific MAb to ASFV and the control line (C) has a specific MAb for the control protein.
In the case of a positive sample, the virus binds to the black beads conjugated to an anti-ADFV MAb. The immune complex then migrates through the membrane by capillarity and is captured again by the anti-AFSV MAb absorbed on the test line, resulting in the appearance of a black line.
The presence of the control line serves as validity of the test, indicating that the immunochromatography has been performed correctly.
