Cabinet Secretaries Rogelio Singson of the Department of Public Works and Highways and Alberto Lim of the Department of Tourism will participate in the Infrastructure Summit “Partnership for Better Infrastructure†with focus on Iloilo City on Wednesday, October 20 at the Amigo Terrace Hotel here.
The conference is spearheaded by the Iloilo Business Club (IBC) Inc. which is currently implementing the Partnership for Better Infrastructure (PBI) project in partnership with the Research, Education and Institutional Development (REID) Foundation supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through The Asia Foundation.
Ma. Lea Lara, IBC executive director said the project encourages stakeholder participation in the project identification process, particularly on road infrastructure.
The goal is to contribute poverty alleviation by assisting the local and national governments to identify productive, higher impact roads that will contribute to economic development within Iloilo City and its immediate environs.
The summit is also in celebration of the IBC 20th anniversary in service to the Ilonggo business community.
Lara said that Iloilo Gov. Arthur Defensor and City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog will give messages while Herminio Maravilla of IBC Infra Committee will give the overview of the summit.
Singson will give the keynote address while Lim will be the luncheon speaker. Plenary topics will include Infrastructures and the Global Economy by Prof. Enrico Basilio of REID, high impact projects in Region VI by DPWH RD Rolando Asis, Province of Iloilo Dr. Raul Banias and City of Iloilo and MIGEDC by Jose Roni Peñalosa.
Responses will be given by Iloilo City Cong. Jerry P. Treñas and Regional Development Council chairman, Capiz Gov. Victor Tanco. (PNA)
