SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique -- The indie film “Tahi” produced by the students of the Antique National School (ANS) will represent Western Visayas in the national competition of the Commission on Population’s (POPCOM) National Adolescent Health and Youth Development (AHYD) Film Festival this December 28 in Metro Manila.

Arvin N. Perira, coach and teacher of the ANS students, on Tuesday said they had been chosen to compete in the national level after they won in the regional competition last November 14 in Iloilo City.

“Our 15-minute film won first place in the regional contest because of the logic of the story,” he said.

He said the film depicts the life of two brothers and the effects of illegal drugs. The movie shows the contrasting life of the older and younger brother who stayed away from the illegal substance.

The indie film was directed by John Lloyd Obsina, 15-year old and a student of ANS. Despite Obsina’s lack of experience in film directing, he also won the best director award in the competition’s regional level held here. (PNA) NOVEMBER 2017
