An
Indian trader was found dead in Dumarao, Capiz on Sunday, or a day after he was allegedly kidnapped by unidentified men in this city.
Capiz provincial police director Josephus Angan identified the victim as Naib Singh, 38, a resident of Gran Plains Subdivision in Jaro, Iloilo City.
Angan said that investigators were still verifying reports that Singh, who was engaged in lending business, was abducted in Sara, Iloilo on Saturday and was taken to Dumarao by the suspects.
Investigators were also confirming reports that Singh's abductors asked for P7 million from his family in exchange for his freedom. The ransom demand was later reduced to P1 million.
However, Singh’s body was discovered before the ransom could be paid.
The residents found Singh's remains at Mount Napatagan in Sitio Ulong in Barangay Sibariwan, Dumarao town, with signs of torture all over the body. - pna
