ILOILO CITY, Dec 14 (PNA) – Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog here has vowed to personally lead the implementation of curfew for minors next week at the newest fun haven of this city.
Mabilog admitted receiving reports that minors, especially those belonging to affluent families frequent the Smallville complex along the diversion road to enjoy the many hangouts, bars and restaurants in the area.
Various incidents involving minors happened in the area and cases usually involved those below 18 years old who participated in rambles and frat wars.
The city mayor said the curfew on minors, those below 18 years old, was embodied on city Ordinance 2006-020 that prohibited minors from roaming around starting 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.
Mabilog said he would personally advise the minors to be at home for safety during the curfew hours, in coordination with city councilor Plaridel Nava, chairman of the SP Committee on Women and Family Relations.
Admitting that a minor can not be jailed for creating public disturbance, the city chief executive said he would do within his powers to convince the minors not to violate the existing law.
