A barangay kagawad (village councilor) was shot dead by a still unidentified suspect in Barangay Datagan, Calinog, Iloilo.
Police said Rolando Lupines, 55, Datagan village councilor barangay kagawad, was walking on the way home with his minor son when unidentified man appeared from a dark portion of Datagan barangay road and shot him with the use of a 12-gauge shotgun Thursday evening.
The victim succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds.
The victim is seeking re-election as barangay kagawad in the coming barangay-SK elections on Monday, Oct. 25 when the fateful incident happened.
The police could not presently determine if local politics has something to do with the crime. (PNA)
