At least 100 people, consisting of school children and teachers, are reportedly being held hostage by a criminal group in Agusan del Sur province Thursday, police said.
Some 25 armed men reportedly belonging to the criminal group Ondo Perez took hostage these people at around 8 a.m. in Sitio (sub-village) Maitum, Barangay (village) San Martin in Prosperidad town, according to initial reports from Chief Superintendent Lino Calingasan, Caraga regional police director.
Police immediately launched rescue operations for the safety of the victims.
