Guihulngan City has recorded the highest number of enrolees in the provincial government’s Provincial Health Insurance of Negros Oriental (PHINO).
The local government unit of Guihulngan has recorded a total of 1,000 PHINO enrolees in the province.
According to Information Officer Adrian Sedillo, a total of eight local government units have already availed of the PHINO program.
Pamplona has 700 enrolees; San Jose, 600; and in Jimalalud, Valencia, Zamboanguita, Amlan and Basay, 500 each.
At present, a total of 4,800 residents of Negros Oriental have been enrolled in PHINO.
PHINO is a unique insurance program of the province that is intended for indigent residents of Negros Oriental. The health insurance assures the patients of no expenses during hospitalization.
The convenor of PHINO, Dr. Ely Villapando, clarified that tricycle drivers and self-employed individuals could avail of the program with only minimal contribution.
He said the contribution would be based on the packages being designed to suit the needs of the people of Negros Oriental. - Phil. News Agency
