A man was found dead early Sunday morning inside the bathroom of the detention cell of the police station in Vallehermoso, Negros Oriental in what initial police investigators say was a suicide case.
The man, identified as Juan Narciso, 57, a farmer and resident of Sitio Payawan, Barangay Tagbino in Vallehermoso, allegedly hanged himself sometime between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m. Sunday, a police report said.
Vallehermoso police chief Insp. Neolie Laturnas said Narciso apparently tore his jacket in strips and tied them together, making a noose around his neck which he used to take his own life.
Narciso was arrested around 11 a.m. Saturday after his brother-in-law complained to the police that the former had threatened him with an improvised shotgun.
Responding policemen confiscated the shotgun from Narciso and locked him up in a detention cell along with one other person who was held for safekeeping for “drunkennessâ€, said provincial police director Sr. Supt. Rey Lyndon Lawas. =pna
