For the police to execute their duties effectively as frontliners of peace and order, Governor Corazon N. Malanyaon urged them to love first the province and the people they serve.

“You really have to learn to love your job, love the people whom you are serving, and love the province itself,” said the Governor during today’s security briefing with the officers of the Davao Oriental Police Provincial Office (DOPPO), wherein she made a clear statement urging the security forces to live up to the core values and become the epitome of virtues.

Governor Malanyaon stressed that this guiding principle is meant to act as their foundation in supporting the province’s bid for development, particularly on the peace and order campaign, anti-drugs efforts, and even tourism promotion.

“I will aggressively promote our tourism. However, tourism development is vulnerable and dependent on peace and order. And so, let’s work together in making this province worth visiting,” she told the police officers, emphasizing that many people rely on tourism for their livelihoods-- from the transport sector, farmers and fishermen, restaurants, resorts, and hotels up to the small and big business. To help boost the tourism sector, the Governor asked for the police’s help to maintain peace and order, which could drastically influence the province’s image.

Meanwhile, during the briefing, Governor Malanyaon also raised her concerns about the resurgence of the illegal drug trade. She said this is another area that needs to be fully addressed, saying that the number of drug incidence in a community is also an indicator of the police efforts.

Having given her guidance, the Governor vowed to work on having a harmonious relationship with the police. “Let’s complement each other’s efforts to be able to see to it that we attain the peace and order that we always hope for.”

Police Colonel Francis Donald Brillante, Officer-In-Charge of the DOPPO, assured the Governor of the police force’s support in all of the province’s initiatives which are also aligned with their development programs and the police’s mandate to protect and serve the people.

He added that they will also abide by the guidance of the Police Regional Office Regional Director Police Brigadier General Benjamin Silo, which is a service that is “Walang Yabang, Walang Abuso, Magserbisyo ng Maayos.” By Karen Lou Deloso- PIO| Photos by Eden Jhan Licayan

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
