CALAMBA CITY, Laguna -- Quezon Governor David Suarez confirmed on Wednesday that the successful implementation of Quezon’s First 1,000 Days of Life or Q1K program has curbed malnutrition as pregnant mothers are given proper maternal care and early childhood care development.
Suarez also cited the program redounds to building the strong foundation of families during his presentation and discussion as resource speaker before the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) employees at the Capacity Building Bureau Batasang Pambansa Complex in Quezon City.
According to Suarez, the Q1K program focuses on the importance of food and nutrition, health and sanitation and social care at the onset of pregnancy of the mother until the next two years of the child’s development.
Under the Q1K program, a team of dedicated Technical Working Group (TWG) and Q1K coordinators are tasked to work closely with pregnant mothers and growing children for four years now since it was institutionalized in the province.
“It also has been my great support in governance nasa larangan ng bawat ginagawa namin at sa iba’t ibang mga programang ipinatutupad namin, ang dapat lagging binibigyang prayoridad ay ang mapataas ang kalidad ng pamumuhay ng ating mga pinaglilingkuran, and this has been my battle cry,” the Governor stressed.
Suarez emphasized that the core to the program objective is to develop the individual and the society.
“I think implementing the first 1,000 days is the best positive step towards that. It takes a village to raise a child, it’s true. But, in Quezon province it doesn’t take a village; it takes a province to raise a child and this is through the help of the Q1K program,” he said. (Zen Trinidad/PNA) NOVEMBER 2017
