Gov. Catamco completes launching of food security program “Taniman 106â€
KIDAPAWAN CITY – Even on a holiday, North Cotabato Gov. Nancy Catamco completed today the 3-day day launching of the Provincial Food Security Program as part of the subdued celebration of 106th Foundation Anniversary of North Cotabato amid the COVID-19.
The series of launching activities were held in Barangay Kitacubong, Alamada for the 1st Legislative District, Nueva Vida, Mlang for the 3rd Legislative District and Mahongkog, Magpet for the 2nd Legislative District.
Dubbed as “Taniman 106,†the symbolic planting of 106 various fruits trees and vegetables was conducted to mark the implementation of food security program in the sites.
The 106th founding Anniversary was uniquely celebrated by launching a very important program in line with the campaign against Covid-19.
In her message, the Governor said that she ordered the creation of Comprehensive Response Task Forces in the fight against Covid-19.
"And these are, food security, local economy strengthening response, healthcare and health services, and socialized housing," she said.
Governor Catamco stressed the importance of the Food Security Program to sustain the food requirement of the province amid the new normal condition.
She said production is just a part of the whole concept of food security. It also covers the entire chain of production, from planting to selling of finish products.
The Governor also mentioned about her plan to establish food manufacturing plants to support the Indigenous Poeples (IPs) and women's sector in the Province.
"Angay andam na ta sa pag abli sa airport, naa tay produkto nga angay ibaligya, ug mapanginabuhian (As we prepare for the opening of our airport, we need to have farm products to be shipped out, thus the need to increase productivity)," Catamco said, adding that the Central Mindanao Airport will soon be opened after the pandemic.
Tomorrow, the provincial government will host an ecumenical prayer and the Goverrnor will deliver her message for the people of North Cotabato.
This will be simultaneously aired live to radio stations in North Cotabato.
